JUDGING CRITERIA
The evaluation process for entries to Design Village is based on various judging criteria which are constantly adapted to new creative, technical, social, economic, and ecological requirements. These criteria are not comprehensive and not all criteria are applied to each design. They simply provide an orientation framework and basis for judging, which is complemented by each individual juror's expertise and professional background.
Each member of the Jury is passionately committed to providing a fair and unbiased evaluation of all entries.
The judging criteria include the following:
INNOVATION — 20 points max
Does this design stand out, provide something new, or improve an existing concept?
AESTHETICS — 20 points max
Artistic value of the form, shape, color, texture, finishing, etc.
FUNCTIONALITY — 20 points max
How well does the structure facilitate 'livability' during the weekend?
DURABILITY — 20 points max
The quality and longevity of the design.
ECOLOGICAL COMPATIBILITY — 20 points max
Potential environmental and/or ecological impact in the forms of biodegradation, embodied energy, and/or adaptive reuse of the structure/materials after the competition.
